Are you currently trying to lose weight? Join the club. Research indicates that about 50 million Americans go on a diet each year. And considering that about 95% of us will gain any weight we lost back within 5 years, trying to live a healthier lifestyle can be discouraging.  But that doesn’t mean that you should quit trying. In fact, it means that you should try that much harder to overcome the statistics and finally lose the weight for good. There are a lot of blog articles posted every day on the topic of losing weight, and here are the best that we came across from February 20th- 24th:

#1- Healthy Weight Loss Tips

http://david-ogden.ewav.net/blog/2012/02/24/healthy-weight-loss-tips/

I love the healthy weight loss tips that David Ogden posted on his blog this week. Many of the tips that he provides are simple, but they are easy to forget and it is good to get a reminder from time to time.  I particularly like what he says about avoiding fruit juice. Most people think that fruit juice is healthy, but David reminds readers that it is often packed with sugar, calories and artificial ingredients that you don’t want to put in your body.

#2- Changing Your Relationship With Food

I love reading inspiring weight loss success stories. Jaki has lost well over 100 pounds and regularly blogs about her experiences at www.slimdownu.com. I love what she wrote on February 23 about changing your relationship with food. So many overweight people have a love-hate relationship with food and she explains that you have to change the way you view food and your body if you truly want to lose weight. Definitely worth a look!

#3- Do You Focus on Weight Loss or Healthy Living?

http://foodandfitness4real.com/2012/02/23/weight-loss-or-healthy-living/

Many dieters change their eating habits and begin exercising because they want to lose weight, not necessarily because they want to improve their health.  Stephanie at www.foodandfitness4real.com reminds us that being healthy should be our main focus, not meeting a specific number on the scale. I love the health tips that she provides, and find this post to be both inspiring and informative.

#4- Budgeting Your Calories

http://pepperscraps.com/2012/02/budgeting-your-calories/

I hate counting calories. It is tedious, and I hate the fact that is makes me think about food all day, everyday. This blog posted by Pepper at www.pepperscraps.com suggests a creative alternative. Pepper keeps track of her calories online with My Fitness Pal. It allows you to track your calories online, or even download an app to your SmartPhone.  If downloading My Fitness Pal means that I don’t have to carry around a little food journal all day, I’m on board!

#5- Calm Down and Lose Weight

Losing weight is stressful. It takes a lot of effort to eat right and exercise, and we get easily discouraged when we don’t see immediate results. This blog posted on huffingtonpost.com explains that stress not only leads to weight gain, but it can even hinder weight loss. I particularly like this post because it suggests a number of activities that relieve stress and burn calories.

#6- Healthy Weight Loss Tips for Lifelong Success

http://www.fitnessgurls.com/health/healthy-weight-loss-tips-for-lifelong-success/

Many weight loss blogs focus on short-term diet advice that most people can only follow for a couple of months. That is why I love this blog posted on www.fitnessgurls.com. The post gives some great tips for changing your lifestyle and keeping weight off over the long haul. The tips are easy and manageable—just the way I like it!

#7- Health Around the Globe

http://www.good.is/post/infographic-health-habits-around-the-world/

Technically this is not a blog post, but this infographic is so imaginative that I had to include it. This infographic looks at health on a global level, and explains visually how different people all over the world lose weight and what they eat to stay healthy. Check it out and see how your diet methods differ from people on the other side of the world.
